Sorry for all the potty talk but it is a big part of life these days. Last night at 9:30 charlie decided to try to poop (which he never wants to on the potty). Usually i'm irritated by these late night decisions to try but he was so funny. First I told him how good it was to go poop on the potty instead of in his pull up he looked at me and said somberly, "yeah. that wouldn't be a very good move." Then a few minutes later he started pushing on his leg, informing me that "i'm trying to get the poopy out of my leg, it's all the way in my leg." When I informed him that it was actually in his tummy area he started pushing on his stomach. It was REALLY funny!!
Today we're making tents, coloring valentines, and spending quality time with dad on his day off. Our friends that were supposed to come over this weekend all had sick kids so we enjoyed a relatively quiet weekend. With a busy week ahead it was kind of nice.

showers and potties
Well we're hitting some milestones--Heather took her first shower yesterday (she usually freaks out at the option) and loved it! She thought it was cool to tilt her head back into the water and try not to get it into her eyes. Of course I had to reach into the shower to wash her hair and got half soaked so it just meant more laundry for me but maybe now she'll be willing to be quicker in the bathroom...Charlie is doing pretty well with potty training except for wanting to poop in whatever he happens to be wearing at the time and man when he gets started there is no stopping him to get to the potty :-(. Otherwise he is doing pretty well as long as he is not distracted.
For the long weekend we are having some friends over tomorrow to play games and let the kids play. We will also be watching some football and hopefully setting up the "garden" that mom designed for us in the back yard. It's actually forcasted to snow here which would be really fun. Everyone is hyped but I don't really think it is going to happen...

docors and nails
Heather finally went to the doctor about her chest that seems to bother her periodically. The doctor said that she was fine but she got some x-rays anyway which she did really well for. Now her reward is to use the nail kit that she got for christmas o make some fake nails. Pink and purple wih stickers are the desired colors. We will really fit in around the town with her fake nails that look too big for her hands :-)

Heather and Charlie we're not in Kansas anymore...
We got to experience yet another "weather" situation yesterday. We were here when Hurricane Katrina came through (it was a category 1 hurricane when it came through) and yesterday had a tornado touch down about 10 miles away. It was actually a combination of 4 tornadoes that touched down around the same path. A few people got injured but no one died (that we've heard of thus far) and a lot of people were stranded last night and stayed in billeting or with friends. The tornado took the roof off of a house of a lady that Jeff worked with as an exec, landed a bus on the roof of the school (the kids were all safe in the building which took a decent amount of damage from the storm), moved some trailers a good distance, and generally wrecked havoc in the path that it took.
The kids and I holed up in the hallway with blankets and pillows and listened to the weather guy talk about the storm, where it was, and who was under warnings. The wind on base wasn't that bad and barely anything came down aside from a few tree limbs. It's scary to think that it could easily have been the base that was hit and any of us could be picking up the pieces from our own homes. I want to help out but at this point it's still an emeregency management situation until they can get everything taken care of.
On a lighter note Jeff and I are going to Monte Carlo night sponsored by the houseing development and are hoping to win some of the "over $1000 in prizes." The kids are going to a movie with a friend and could not be more excited. Heather woke up and started having spasms of excitement at the prospect (maybe more excitement than christmas!!).

dinosaurs
Heather and Charlie are learning about dinosaurs in school. Heather came home today talking about Palientologists (I guess I should learn how to spell that!!) although she thought it started with an "s" so it was salientologists--still a pretty big word!! She loves to be with her friends and constantly asks to invite someone over, go to their house or the park. Yesterday we took a nice walk and bike ride to the library to enjoy the nice weather. It's great to be able to get out and "play" in the middle of January!!

potty training--again!!
Well we're back into the hang of life in MS. The kids had two days of school last week and this week is filled with MOPS, school, dentist appt (yuck!!), and maybe even an evening out for Sara and Jeff (more later on that!!). The biggest thing we've been working on is potty training. Charlie seems to come and go with his interest but for now we're making a go of it. Two days ago I was ready to give up for a while but Jeff suggested pressing on. So we have. yesterday was a good day with Charlie telling me he had to go before he did, pooping in the potty, and staying dry all day. today was OK but not quite as many successes (no major accidents yet though).
Our neighbors and friends across the street moved to a house in town (25 min away) so heather is a bit sad and grumpy about that. She and the girls played really nicely together and we will definitely miss the ability to exchange children at a moments notice. On the moving front Jeff should find out in March/April where he may be headed.

happy new year!
We made it home from Ohio on Sunday night after a great time at a friend's wedding and a 10:00 dip in the pool because the kids just had to do it! The drive home was shorter than usual since we had a head start bt still seemed long. We've unpacked most things and spent the last two days rearranging the house. We got a new TV thanks to a friend so we had to rearrange to accommodate. The kids now each have their own room, no playroom, and the guest room will also function as a craft/movie room for the kids. They love the new set up and once we get their rooms cleaned it will be great!
We spent last night at our neighbor's house playing games and the kids actually watched the ball drop in real midnight timeframe, not at 11 when it dropped in NY. Tonight we had some more game time and enjoyed some of the new set up. Jeff has off tomorrow so hopefully we can finish organizing and enjoy our new space!
